The purge uses a lot of different techniques to engage their audience for example the use of editing, sound and mise en scene. also the camera angles are used effectively through the use of them being CCTV shots. also the use of sound is used very effectively as it creates more of a tense feeling, the sound doesn't suit the images.
A use of editing is the use of Purge feed/Time and date of the film, relating to film so it makes the film actually seem like real life.
The use of shots/edit is used effectively to show a realistic feel about the film through the CCTV, showing a realistic violence. this images are usual to us so we don't think anything of it, we see it everyday in the mood. which creates a unsure feeling in us that this can actually happen.
The sound of the music being really slow and like casual music makes us feel really creeped out as it isn't something we would address this scenes with these sounds. this sounds would normally be addressed with posh people who wouldn't be involved with any violence. the music we expect with violence would be see to be rap and hip hop due to its history, but the use of this music creates atmosphere.
